Somni's Engine Run Checklist

Read this out loud in lobby. The speaker widget is not a party leader.

Run Checklist

Print this page or park it on a phone. Somni’s Engine punishes implicit squads. A 50-player server will not save you. A three-person callout sheet will. Pair with Getting Started if anyone in voice has never seen the HUD.

Lobby (before ready)

  • Claimed Beta if you still need 500 Prisms (codes).
  • Default recruit is Loaffle or Magni unless you already main a kit (starters, toons).
  • Picked a hide column or a fight column, not both (tier list).
  • Hotbar: Candle, wrench, med. Popket / Sledger only if fight session (gear).
  • Ear Muffs, Silent Gloves, or Mittens on hide nights.
  • Auto-sprint off (controls).
  • Named a noise captain who only watches the speaker.
  • Split machines: Extract vs Repair vs Scavenge vs Valves — one job per player when the squad is four.
  • Agreed an abort word (“scatter”, “still”, “leave”).
  • Shermie and Eclipse are not first-hour pulls. Engine hunts wait until quotas are free (engine, Eclipse).
  • Know tonight’s bugs (known bugs).

If any box is unchecked, you are not ready. You are hoping.

Zone start

  • Read the machine banner. Play to that number, not last week’s eight.
  • Split wings by job. Extract players do not wander into Repair rooms “to help.”
  • Walk until the speaker is quiet. Sprint is a spend, not a lifestyle (hide).
  • Repair / extract first, loot on the way out (survive).
  • Call remaining machines every two completes, by type: “two valves left, east.”

When the HUD goes red

  • Too noisy! → stop sprint, holster Popket, wait.
  • Something Noticed You → scatter to beams or commit as a stack. No new machines. Peanut box form is a hide commit, not a fight commit.
  • Ability on cooldown! → stop mashing. You do not have an active.
  • Empty wrench charges → loot a tool before the next wing. Ferro-Mace still cannot be repaired.
  • HP under half → eat/med in a corner, not in a doorway.

Extract / abort

  • Quota complete → leave. Greed rooms are how 8/8 becomes a wipe.
  • Two down → abort the room, not necessarily the zone.
  • Place restarting → take the kick, rejoin together (beta). Empty servers during a publish are expected.
  • Boss spotted but kit is hide-only → do not pull. Mark for a later fight session.
  • Luckee D8 / Rigged Wheel chaos mid-quota → park luck until extract (Luckee).

After the run

  • Screenshot badges if any popped. Beta Tester is participation (“So our story begins.”), not a skill badge.
  • Note broken machines or missing Prisms for the bugs page.
  • Spend Prisms only if the death was a kit problem (farm).
  • Swap the player who could not stop sprinting off noise captain. Or off the squad.

Voice lines worth stealing

  • “Still.” — freeze, speaker red.
  • “Extract two, repair one.” — job call.
  • “No gun.” — hide session reminder.
  • “Stack.” — fight commit.
  • “Leave.” — extract now.

If your stack will not say those words, you do not have a stack. You have a lobby. The Isle of Dreams deletes lobbies.

Keep this checklist next to community links so nobody “finds a Trello” mid-run. There is no Trello. There is this sheet.

Solo variant (60 seconds)

  • Redeem Beta if needed. Buy Loaffle or Magni.
  • Walk, do not sprint, until the first machine is done.
  • Speaker red → stand still.
  • Quota complete → leave.
  • Popket stays in the bag unless you queued a fight night.
  • If kicked, rejoin once; if kicked again, stop (beta).

Solo is allowed. Solo is not an excuse to skip the speaker. The HUD does not care that you have no friends. It still prints Something Noticed You.

Squad size trap

Seven people who all “help” the same Extract machine are worse than three people who split Extract, Repair, and Valves. The 50-player cap is a crowd, not a raid design. Peel off. Play your wing. Meet at extract. If someone cannot follow that, they can follow the Getting Started page tomorrow instead of this sheet tonight. Do not drag them to Shermie to “learn faster.”

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers for Isle of Dreams runs.

How many people should run together?

Three to six with roles. Fifty randoms is not a squad.

Who is the noise captain?

The player who watches the speaker and can make everyone freeze. Rotate if they get bored.

How should we split machines?

Assign Extract, Repair, Scavenge, and Valves. Do not stack four people on one object.

Should we hunt bosses every run?

No. Shermie and Eclipse are not first-hour. See the engine guide.
