How to Hide in Somni's Engine
Silence is a resource. This is how the noise widget decides you are prey.
The official Somni’s Engine description says it twice: hide, keep yourself hidden, and do not make noise — or fight back. Most players skip the first half. This guide is only the first half. If the HUD is still new, start from Getting Started. If you came to shoot the wandering engine, read that page after you can stand still. Do not farm Prisms with a loud kit and call it stealth.
Two HUD lines matter. Too noisy! sits on a red speaker widget. Something Noticed You appears in the middle of the screen in red. The first is a warning. The second means a hunter already has a vote. Treat them as different states. Controls lists which buttons feed the speaker; this page is when to stop pressing them.
The noise budget
Noise is not lore flavor. It is a meter you feed with:
- sprinting on wood floors (the yellow stamina bar is the spend)
- Popket shots (60 damage, two rounds, still loud at 1/2)
- Remmy pellets (30×8) and Sparket flares (30 plus light)
- toon abilities with a glow, bark, or wheel spin
- jump-spam and slammed interacts
- clustered teammates all moving at once in a 50-player server
Walking, Extracting Ether, Repairing pumps, Scavenging boxes, and turning Valves are the cheap actions if the speaker is already calm. If the speaker is red, stop feeding it. Holster. Take your finger off sprint. Wait until the widget calms before you touch a machine.
Stealth gear exists. Ear Muffs suppress noise by 50% — the single best hide pickup we can name. Silent Gloves and Whisper Tea add stealth. Take those from lockboxes and intermission shops before you take a fight crystal. Rankings sit on the perk tier list.
Something Noticed You
When that banner appears, hiding is no longer theoretical. You have two honest options:
- Break line of sight behind wood pillars, corners, or furniture, then go still. Do not sprint the moment the text pops; that confirms your vector.
- Fight only if your kit is a fight kit: gun out, teammates ready, stamina high. Toasten with an ability on cooldown is not a fight kit. Loaffle should be healing, not dueling. Magni can melee, but a magnet swing in a doorway is still a tell.
Do not start a new machine during the banner. The animation locks you into a noisy job. Finish only if the machine is one tap from done and the doorway is already yours. Quota rules live on how to survive.
Where to hide in generated rooms
Rooms are procedural, but the vocabulary repeats: maroon wallpaper, wood beams, bookcases, indoor plants, corners. Good hides are:
- the far side of a thick beam (Zone 13 captures are full of them)
- a side room with one entrance, not a hallway
- behind a teammate who is already the bait (call it, do not steal it)
- Peanut’s box form, if you actually bought the 1000 Prism recruit
Bad hides are:
- the middle of the floor with a pink ability glow
- a doorway you still need to walk through
- next to a beeping Extract or a Valve that is still hissing fog
- inside Luckee’s wheel animation
If a teammate is already noticed, do not run to them unless you can stun (Sledger dazes for 80) or body-block. Comfort stacking is how one notice becomes three corpses. Carie can hug-tank a hit; that is a planned save, not a pile-on.
Loadouts that stay quiet
Lights can be quiet or loud depending on whether they are a clickable flash. Test in a safe room. Repair tools are work tools; keep them equipped while you Repair, then switch off if the model is huge and bright. Popket, Remmy, and Sparket stay in the bag for hide runs. The gear ranking marks which tools are stealth-legal. A Knife (40) is a quieter panic melee than a Long Pipe slam. Plank is one use at 60 — save it. Ferro-Mace (60 plus reflect while unrepaired) is a fight pickup that happens to look like a tool; do not swing it to “feel safe.”
Toon choice matters. Peanut at 1000 Prisms is the dedicated stealth kit: Boxed In plus Fleeting Presence. That pairing is why hide mains farm for Peanut instead of rolling Luckee at 777. Nara’s camera (2000) is information, not invisibility. Shermie is a Sherman tank you have not earned until Purple Hearted. Starter toons flags Loaffle and Magni as the 500 Prism kits that forgive sprint mistakes.
Eat quiet. Canned Tuna (15 HP) and P.B.J (20 plus buff) are corner snacks. B.L.T (100 plus buff) and Ether Pack (full HP) are louder animations in some captures — use them after the speaker calms. Stamina drinks (Water, Soda, Coffee, 25th Hour) exist so you can walk, not so you can sprint forever.
Team hiding
Agree on a noise captain. One person watches the speaker and types “still” in chat. Everyone else obeys for three seconds. That single habit beats any Prism spend. Use the run checklist so the rule exists before Zone 1.
If a stranger in a 50-player server is sprinting circles, leave their wing. You cannot hide for them. Play your machines, then rotate. Redeem codes in lobby, not while the banner is red.
Somni Foundation has no official Discord for “stealth tech.” Official links are the Roblox experience and the group. Beta restarts and broken speaker widgets belong on known bugs and beta updates, not in a lookalike server.
When hiding is the wrong call
The description allows fighting for a reason. Named bosses and cornered rooms sometimes delete stealth. If you have already been noticed, stamina is high, and a Remmy is loaded, commit. Half-hiding after a Popket is how you die in the open. Switch mental modes: the survive guide covers the fight-to-leave case, and how to beat Eclipse is a shotgun warehouse, not a plant-pot sit.
Hiding is a skill you practice on easy quotas so it exists for the engine and Moonie. Those badges are rare because people bring noise into a fight that needed patience. Walk the last hall. Holster. Let Ear Muffs do their 50%. Then decide whether tonight is a hide session or a badge hunt — not both in the same doorway.

A threat has a bead on you. Break line of sight or fight. Do not start a machine.
Can I hide and use a pistol?
Not at the same time. Guns are a fight kit. See the gear list.
Does crouch exist?
Use whatever sneak bind Roblox gives you, but the real stealth button is not sprinting. Check controls.
