Somni's Engine Gear Tier List
Hotbar rankings for hide runs versus engine hunts, using tools actually seen in-game.
Gear is the stuff you press. Perks are the stuff that ticks. This list ranks melee, ranged, armor, bags, lights, and noise kit from live Isle of Dreams loadouts. It sits next to the perks list and the tier list hub. If an item is not on this page, it is either new in beta or too rare to rank. We will not invent a legendary sword to fill an S slot.
Melee
| Weapon | Notes | Rank |
|---|---|---|
| Sledger | 80+ damage, daze. S-tier fight commit. | |
| Ferro-Mace | 60+ with reflect. Cannot repair. | |
| Plank | 60, one-shot potential. High risk, high wipe. | |
| Long Pipe | 50. Honest mid melee. | |
| Knife | 40. Fine backup. | |
| Sweeper | 30, plus faster Ether puddle clean. Utility A on Eclipse nights. | |
| Black Knife | 25, never repair. Last resort. |
Sledger is the fight-column king for the engine. Ferro-Mace is the reflect partner for Spike Band — great until it breaks and you remember it cannot be repaired. Black Knife is a brick with a skin. Glue from the 3-star lockbox exists to keep the repairable sticks alive.
Ranged
| Weapon | Notes | Rank |
|---|---|---|
| Remmy | 30×8 shotgun. Bring versus Eclipse. | |
| Popket | 60, two rounds, loud. Fight only. | |
| Sparket | 30 plus flare. Do not teamkill. Flares are cosmetic on most recruits; Manic Luckee flares still burn. |
Remmy is the Eclipse shotgun — read how to beat Eclipse before you dump Prisms into it. Popket is a commit button that paints Too noisy! across a wooden room; holster it on hide runs and on how to hide nights. Sparket’s flare is a friendly-fire tax in a 50-player server. If you main Luckee, know whether you are in a manic flare state before you ping a teammate.
Armor, bags, lights, noise kit
- Lid Shield and Pot Helm — fight-column A. They do not reduce Too noisy!.
- Backpack +3 slots — A quality of life.
- Duffel +6 slots, −2 speed — B, because the speed tax costs stamina and time.
- Durapack +2 slots, +10% resist — A hybrid.
- Candle — stealth-friendlier light. Default hide slot 1.
- Survival Lantern — about −1 stealth. Use it when you need the cone, not when you need Amethyst to matter.
- Silent Gloves, Mittens, Ear Muffs — 50% noise bar. Stealth S. Equip these before you buy a gun.
- D6 — rerolls a nearby perk of the same rarity. That is a perk tool sitting in the bag; treat it as a decision, not loot.
Example hotbars
Hide beginner (Loaffle / Magni): Candle | repair tool | med. Bag: Ear Muffs, Backpack, sandwich. No Popket. This is the Getting Started bar and the starter default.
Fight squad: light | Sledger or Remmy | med, wrench in bag until quota is due. Glue if you have it. This is the engine bar.
Solo flex: wrench | med | Candle, Remmy in bag. You play hide until noticed, then swap. Requires discipline. Peanut box form is the stealth variant of this idea.
Eclipse prep: Remmy out, Sweeper for Ether puddles, Patch Up / Extra Health from intermission, Herbal Cream if it dropped. Do not first-hour this. See the run checklist.
Charges, ammo, and repair rules
Numbers on icons matter. A healthy repair tool is a quota. Ferro-Mace and Black Knife do not come back. Popket with 0/2 rounds is a brick that still tempts you to swap. If a tool hits zero in a doorway, you do not have that tool. Loot before the next wing, not during a notice banner.
Armor does not reduce noise. Do not buy Pot Helm thinking you can now sprint. Ear Muffs do not make Popket quiet; they shrink the bar you feed.
Buying gear with Prisms
Spend the Beta 500 on Loaffle or Magni first, gear second, unless the shop is selling a repair tool you do not own. Farm more with Prism farming. Shop highlights that look like guns are a session-type decision — make it on the run checklist before you click. How to survive still wants machines finished before a Sledger montage.
Gear does not replace skill. A quiet wrench player with Ear Muffs beats a loud Popket player on every quota that is not a badge hunt. Rank your hotbar for the zone you are in, not the clip you watched. When a restart scrambles the shop, check known bugs before you refund a missing Sledger in chat.
Frequently Asked Questions
Quick answers for Isle of Dreams runs.
What should be in slot 1 on a hide run?
A Candle, not a Survival Lantern. Keep the repair tool easy to reach during quotas.
Is Popket good?
For fight sessions, yes, and it is loud. For beginner hide runs, leave it in the bag. Bring Remmy versus Eclipse.
Which melee is S tier?
Sledger for fight commits. Ferro-Mace is strong but cannot be repaired.
Do Ear Muffs really help?
Silent Gloves, Mittens, and Ear Muffs cut the noise bar by about half. Equip them before a gun.
