Somni's Engine Manics Guide
Enemy Recruits hunt you. They are not shop kits.
Manics in Somni’s Engine are not extra Recruits. They are enemy counterparts of the eight shop kits: Manic Carie, Manic Loaffle, Manic Luckee, Manic Magni, Manic Nara, Manic Peanut, Manic Shermie, and Manic Toasten. If a silhouette looks like a teammate and then charges, read the nameplate. Shopkeeper Somni sells the living versions on the toon roster. Manics hunt you.
Playable Shermie still lives on how to play Shermie. Hide rules live on how to hide. Quota rules live on how to survive. Named bosses are separate: the wandering engine for Purple Hearted, and Project Eclipse for Witness Eclipse.
The eight Manics
You do not unlock them. You do not buy them. They are not a ninth shop row.
- Manic Loaffle — healer bread-cat. Do not stand in a glow and assume it is a teammate Aroma.
- Manic Magni — wrench magnet. Machine wings are not safe.
- Manic Luckee — wheel and flare. Sparket-style flares from Manic Luckee still burn.
- Manic Toasten — toaster-dog runner. Fast, loud, fight-shaped. Give the hallway.
- Manic Peanut — box scavenger. Furniture can be a hunter. Confirm the box is yours.
- Manic Nara — camera scout. Assume it already saw the wing.
- Manic Carie — teddy tank. Slow, heavy contact. Empty stamina will not outrun it.
- Manic Shermie — Sherman soldier. Deep-zone problem. Footage exists of solo Manic Shermie past zone 50.
Call the full name. “Shermie” in a 50-player server can mean your tank or the thing that rammed Extract. “Manic Shermie, east hall” is a useful sentence.
Blobs are 50 HP chasers
Blobs are not Recruit copies. A Blob still kills Peanut (HP 2, Strength 1). It still clips a Loaffle who sprints a heal into a doorway. Do not invent a lore name. Do not treat 50 HP as a joke because Eclipse is 1000.
If a Blob notices you, break line of sight. Holster. Too noisy! plus a 50 HP chaser is how Zone 2 ends. Let Magni, Toasten, or playable Shermie take contact if the squad called fight. The gear list parks Popket and Remmy in the fight column. A Blob is not Eclipse. Save Remmy.
Play the HUD
Procedural rooms do not spawn a scripted Manic arena. Zones generate halls, machines, and hunters. You feed detection with sprint, guns, and slammed interacts. Too noisy! is the warning. Something Noticed You means a hunter already has a vote.
The machine banner is the quota. The speaker is the Manic budget. Hide kits walk. Fight kits commit as a stack. Write the rule on the run checklist before ready: noise captain calls “still,” then nobody starts Extract.
Quotas climb. Zone 13 footage shows 8 machines. Later floors ask for more. Play the number on screen. Floor-index notes sit on deep zones.
Manic Shermie at zone 50+
Player footage documents Manic Shermie at zone 50+ as a solo problem. That is not a shop unlock. If you do not own playable Shermie, you still have to survive the Manic. If you do, do not ram Fire! into a Manic Shermie unless the squad stacked.
The updates hub logs what beta actually changed. There is no official Discord with a Manic spawn map. Somni Foundation said they have no community servers.
Project Eclipse is Somni’s Manic
Project Eclipse (Moonie) is Somni’s manic form — Inkchor fused with Ether. Floor 30, and every 30 after. Badge: Witness Eclipse. Posted numbers: 1000 HP, plus 500 HP per extra player, armor 10. Do not chain Eclipse and a hallway Manic Shermie on the same exhausted kit.
The wandering engine is not a Manic row
The wandering engine awards Purple Hearted, which gates playable Shermie (4300 Prisms plus the badge). We do not invent an HP bar for the wanderer. Treat it as a rare named hunt, not Manic number nine. Engine first, then Shermie in the shop, then Eclipse when floor 30 is real.
Open beta still means frequent restarts. Check beta status and known bugs if badges lag. Redeem Beta for 500 Prisms in the lobby — that is the only confirmed code — then buy a Recruit that can hide or fight on purpose. Name the hunter, play the HUD, leave when the quota is done.
Frequently Asked Questions
Quick answers for Isle of Dreams runs.
Are Manics playable Recruits in Somni's Engine?
No. Manics are enemy counterparts of the eight shop Recruits. Buy the living kits from Somni on the toon roster.
What is a Blob compared with a Manic?
A Blob is a 50 HP chaser, not a Recruit copy. It still kills hide kits. Manics are the named enemy versions of Carie, Loaffle, Luckee, Magni, Nara, Peanut, Shermie, and Toasten.
Is Project Eclipse a Manic?
Moonie is Somni's manic form on floor 30. The badge is Witness Eclipse. Prep on how to beat Eclipse.
Does beating a Manic unlock Shermie?
No. Playable Shermie needs 4300 Prisms and Purple Hearted from the wandering engine. We do not invent an HP bar for that wanderer.
