How to Play Shermie in Somni's Engine

The Soldier is a Sherman tank, a Fire! burst, and a badge gate hide squads must plan around.

How to Play Shermie

Shermie “The Soldier” is the Sherman tank of Somni’s Engine. 4300 Prisms from shopkeeper Somni and the Purple Hearted badge. She is the only badge-gated Recruit. Read this after you beat the wandering engine. Kit numbers live on the toon roster. Hide squads must plan around her: she is loud.

Do not buy Shermie with a Beta leftover fantasy. Beta is 500 Prisms. Shermie is 4300 plus a badge. Claim the gift on the codes hub and spend it on Loaffle or Magni. There is no second string that skips Purple Hearted.

The kit, without the mascot read

  • HP 8, Stamina 2, Walk 1, Run 5, Stealth 2, Strength 5, Repair 1, Extract 1, Scavenge 4, Sight 1.
  • Active Fire!: 50 contact plus 50 explosion, 30s cooldown.
  • Passive Tank Anatomy: +10 armor, 100% push resist, half stamina regen, ram while running, Ball Gun.

HP 8, Strength 5, and armor 10 are the job: you take the hallway. Walk 1 and Sight 1 are the tax. Stamina 2 with half regen means ram is not a lifestyle. Repair 1 and Extract 1 mean you are not Magni. Scavenge 4 is the quota. Stealth 2 plus a tank silhouette is a speaker problem.

Fire! — when to press it

Fire! is a commit, not a greeting.

Press it when:

  • A Blob (50 HP chaser) is in contact range and you can afford the bark. One clean contact already matches Blob HP.
  • The stack called fight on a Manic. Read Manics so you shoot the enemy counterpart.
  • The Eclipse warehouse pull is live and Remmy is already up. Fire! is the stomp-window burst, not the approach.
  • A healer is about to die in a doorway and you can body-block after the shot.

Do not press it when:

  • A Peanut is boxed in the same room. Explosion does not care about furniture.
  • You are still walking a Valve. Finish or abort. Quota rules live on how to survive.
  • The speaker is quiet and the run checklist said hide. Fire! is how hide nights become Something Noticed You.
  • You want to “check damage” at spawn. 30s later the barrel is dark.

Call “firing” before you press so Loaffle can hold an Aroma and hide players can break line of sight. Call “barrel down” when the 30s starts. After a miss, walk and holster.

Tank Anatomy is a contract

+10 armor and 100% push resist mean you do not get shoved off a tile. Half stamina regen means the yellow bar does not come back like Loaffle’s. Ram while running means Run 5 is a weapon. Ball Gun is part of the body. Treat it like the gear list already treats loud guns: holster on hide nights, commit on fight nights. Walk 1 is the other half: if you are not running, you are furniture. Hide squads walk. There is no stealth Sherman.

Loud — hide squads must plan around her

If the lobby is a plant-pot night, Shermie is the wrong Recruit. How to hide is walk, holster, still. She is Run 5, Fire!, ram, Ball Gun. Honest options: the whole stack plays fight; Shermie sits in lobby while Peanut boxes; or Shermie holds a bait wing and does not share the boxed room.

Deep zones make this worse. If the night is a deep push, either own the noise or leave The Soldier in the shop.

Scavenge 4, not pumps

You are not the Repair lead. You are not the Extract lead. Sight 1 will get you killed peeking Ether. Take boxes. Call them. Let Magni Magnetize pumps. Let Peanut plant. Do not steal Loafy Aroma because HP 8 looks fine. Armor is not a heal. Stamina 2 plus half regen means drinks matter: ram once, then walk. Empty yellow bar is Walk 1 with a cannon.

Perks and the other fight alt

Intermission perks cost ZP. For Shermie, take soak and burst on the perks list: Harden, Extra Health, Metal Tag, Glue if you melee. Skip Light Footed as a first pick. You are not walking a tank into Amethyst enlightenment.

Toasten is the cheaper fight alt: 1000 Prisms, Shocking Plug, no badge. If you do not own Purple Hearted, you do not main Shermie. Luckee is not a tank. The starter list still applies to accounts that have not beaten the wanderer.

Squad job

On the Toons Hub split, Shermie is the fight tank. Write “Shermie rams, give the hallway. Fire! on call.” If a hide player cannot live with that sentence, they pick a different Recruit or a different night. Until the badge is real, stay on the starter pair and hunt the engine.
