How to Play Magni in Somni's Engine
The Industrious is a magnet, a wrench, and a 500-Prism rush if you stay planted on machines.
Magni “The Industrious” is the machine-and-melee Recruit of Somni’s Engine. 500 Prisms from shopkeeper Somni — the same wallet as Loaffle, and exactly what the Beta code pays. Magnet-head, wrench, red scarf. Official thumbnail pair with the bread-cat. Kit numbers live on the toon roster. Buy order lives on best starters. The hide/fight split lives on the Toons Hub. Sibling playbooks: Magni and Loaffle.
Do not save the 500 for a 1000-Prism kit. Beta is 500 Prisms. Magni is 500. Redeem it on the codes hub, then buy this wrench if you already like pumps.
The kit, without the magnet read
- Every baseline stat is 3: HP, Stamina, Walk, Run, Stealth, Strength, Repair, Extract, Scavenge, Sight.
- Active Magnetized: +2 work levels for 10s, 20s cooldown.
- Passive Wrangling: +1 work to everyone for 30s when a new zone loads.
Work is Extract, Repair, and Scavenge. Magnetized turns a 3/3/3 machine kit into a 5/5/5 burst. Wrangling turns the squad into 4s for the first half-minute of a floor. Veterans call Magni better than Loaffle if you stay on machines and still win a close fight.
Strength 3 is not Shermie. HP 3 is not a tank. You crush machines and you can melee; you do not ram hallways. For the tank read, wait for how to play Shermie. For the sibling fight alt, wait for how to play Toasten.
Magnetized — when to press it
Magnetized is a work window, not a panic button.
Press it when:
- You are already planted on a Repair pump, Extract station, or Scavenge box.
- Two machines sit in the same room and 10s will finish both.
- Wrangling just fell off and the banner still needs work.
Do not press it when:
- You are still crossing a hallway. +2 work does nothing while you walk.
- Something Noticed You is up and you need to freeze. Work animations are noise.
- You want a melee steroid. Magnetized is work, not Strength.
- The floor just loaded and Wrangling is still ticking. Save the active for a hard machine.
Ten seconds is short. Start the animation, then press. A Magni who Magnetizes, then jogs to the pump, wastes the only identity the kit has. Cooldown is 20s. After the window, you are a 3 again. Walk to the next machine. Do not sprint the cooldown away and print Too noisy!. The survive guide is the quota loop; this page only adds “you are the pump person with a timer.”
Wrangling is a floor opener
Thirty seconds of +1 work for everyone fires when a new zone loads. You do not press it. You spend it.
- Be on a machine in the first ten seconds. If you loot first, Wrangling dies in Scrap.
- Call “Wrangling up” so Loaffle, Peanut, and Nara plant.
- Do not waste the window on Valves if Extract and Repair are still 0.
- When the 30s ends, Magnetized is the personal burst.
Wrangling does not make hide kits loud. It makes their work faster. A Peanut who scavenges during Wrangling is doing how to play Peanut. A Luckee who spins during Wrangling is wasting the floor — send them to how to play Luckee after the run.
Machines first, melee second
Take pumps and Ether. Split from the healer. Leave boxes to Peanut if you have one.
Melee is the backup when a Blob (50 HP chaser) steps into the pump room. Strength 3 plus a wrench beats Peanut’s Strength 1. It does not beat a Manic 1v1 for fun. Manics are enemy counterparts of Recruits. If one walks in: finish the animation only if you are one hit from complete, then break or commit with the gear list — Sledger / Long Pipe, not a Popket panic. Let Toasten or Shermie take the fight if they called it. Do not chase into a maroon hallway.
Holster guns on hide nights. How to hide still applies to a fight kit standing still on a pump. Work is quieter than sprint.
Deep floors change quota density. Read deep zones before you treat Zone 1 muscle memory as a floor-20 plan. The wandering engine is a later hunt, not a Magnetized tutorial.
Perks that match the wrench
Recruit-exclusive traits stay on Magni. Do not D6 a lockbox hoping to steal them onto Loaffle.
- Ferro Thorn — the reflect lane. Pair with fight melee, not a hide hotbar.
- Momentum — keep the work chain moving. Dead time is the enemy of a 10s active.
- Magnetic Force — magnet identity. Take it; do not reroll it for a luck icon.
Intermission perks cost ZP, not Prisms. On the perks list, grab Tool Kit, Machine Oil, and Work Supplies before Cyan Balloon. Hotbar: Candle, repair tool, med — the Getting Started bar. Farm extra Prisms with how to farm Prisms only after the kit is bought.
Squad job
On the run checklist, write “Magni = pumps + Magnetized.” Call “Magnetized” before you press so Loaffle does not Aroma a full-HP wrench. Call “Wrangling down” at 30s. Call “fighting” if you commit, so Peanut can box.
Practice the 10s window until the 20s cooldown is a rhythm. Then Magni is The Industrious instead of a 500-Prism tourist. If you wanted heals, that is Loaffle. Until the pumps click, stay on this kit.
