How to Play Toasten in Somni's Engine
The toaster-dog is Loaffle's sibling, a Shocking Plug, and a fight alt — not a hide lesson.
Toasten “The Judge” is the toaster-dog Recruit of Somni’s Engine. 1000 Prisms from shopkeeper Somni. Loaffle’s sibling and the first honest fight alt after a 500-Prism kit. Read this after the starter list. Kit numbers live on the toon roster. Stealth rules when the plug is down live on how to hide.
Do not buy Toasten with a Beta leftover fantasy. Beta is 500 Prisms. Toasten is 1000. Claim the gift on the codes hub, buy Loaffle or Magni first, then farm the rest.
The kit, without the mascot read
- HP 4, Stamina 3, Walk 3, Run 3, Stealth 2, Strength 4, Repair 2, Extract 2, Scavenge 4, Sight 2.
- Active Shocking Plug!: 30 damage plus a 3s slow, 30s cooldown.
- Passive Bravery: 30% speed for 20s when a new zone loads.
HP 4 and Strength 4 are the job: you take contact that Peanut cannot. Stealth 2 is the warning: you are not a hide main. Scavenge 4 is the quota. Repair 2 and Extract 2 mean you are not Magni. Sight 2 means you peek late. Loaffle heals. You interrupt.
Shocking Plug! — when to press it
Shocking Plug is not a room clear. It is an interrupt.
Press it when:
- A Blob (50 HP chaser) is in melee and a teammate can finish the remaining 20.
- Something Noticed You just fired and you need a slow to break line of sight.
- A Manic is committing on a healer and the stack called fight. Read Manics so you shock the enemy counterpart, not a Recruit.
- You are the interrupt on a named hunt: the wandering engine or a warehouse Eclipse commit.
Do not press it when:
- The speaker is red and nobody agreed to fight. A plug is a bark. Hide squads with Peanut boxed in the corner will hate you.
- You are still on a Scavenge animation. Finish the box.
- You want to “test damage” in a hallway. 30s later the real chase starts and the plug is dark.
- You think 30 damage solo-kills a Blob. It does not. 50 minus 30 is a Blob that still eats you.
Call “plugging” before you press so Loaffle can Aroma and Magni does not wrench the same tile. Call “plug down” when the 30s starts. After a miss, walk and holster.
Bravery is a zone opener, not a lifestyle
30% speed for 20s on a new zone is a relocate window. Use it to reach the first Scavenge cluster, plant a fight angle if the run checklist said loud, or get off spawn before a Manic cuts the door.
Do not sprint the whole maroon wing. Bravery plus a held sprint prints Too noisy!. When the 20s ends you are Walk 3, Stealth 2, and loud. Walk. Holster. Scavenge. Deep zones punish the player who treats every floor load like a speedrun.
Scavenge 4 is still the quota
Zones ask for Extract, Repair, Scavenge, and Valves. Toasten’s outlier is Scavenge 4 with a fight kit attached. Take the boxes. Leave pumps to Magni. Leave hide furniture to Peanut. Loot on the way out of a finished box, not on the way in. The survive guide is the quota loop; this page only adds “you are the plug person who also does boxes.” Do not steal heals because you are Loaffle’s sibling. Do not “help” Shermie ram. HP 4 is not HP 8.
Do not hide-main this dog
Stealth 2, Sight 2, a glowing plug, and a speed passive are the opposite of a plant-pot night. If the stack wanted a box, they wanted Peanut. If they wanted a random item, they wanted Luckee. If they wanted a Sherman, they wanted Shermie and they do not have Purple Hearted yet. Blobs still kill greedy Toastens. Manics are worse. If the floor is Project Eclipse (Moonie), you are a slow and a shotgun partner, not the beam sponge.
Perks that match the plug
Intermission perks cost ZP, not Prisms. For Toasten, take the electric column on the perks list:
- Overcook — toaster identity. Take it when the tray offers the fight read.
- Lightning Rod — pays when you are the contact toon, not when you pretend to be Peanut.
- Discharge Blast — pairs with Shocking Plug follow-up. Burst windows, not hallway fidgets.
Skip luck wheels, box stealth, and hug charges. Gear still ranks on the gear list: Sledger plus a plug is a Blob plan; Remmy plus a plug is an Eclipse plan.
Squad job
On the Toons Hub split, Toasten sits in the fight column. Write “Toasten = boxes + plug on call.” If the stack already has a loud Shermie, do not add a second bark unless the night is a named hunt. Until the plug clicks, stay on Loaffle or Magni.
