Somni's Engine Getting Started

A first-hour plan for the Isle of Dreams that does not dump you into Eclipse blind.

Getting Started

Somni’s Engine drops you onto the Isle of Dreams with a recruit, a noisy HUD, and a beta that will restart under you. This beginner guide is the order of operations: claim Prisms, pick a kit you can actually steer, finish machines, and leave the named bosses for later. If you already understand the noise meter, skip to how to survive or the wandering engine page.

The official pitch is short and accurate. Rooms generate as you push. You recruit toons from shopkeeper Somni. There are 100+ perks, plus weapons, armor, and consumables. You can hide or you can fight. That is the whole loop. Everything else on this wiki is how not to fail it in Zone 2.

Minute zero

Join from the Roblox experience page. Servers hold up to 50 players; a full lobby is louder, not safer. Wait out the load. If the place is down, that is a documented beta restart — see beta updates — not a ban.

Redeem Beta for 500 Prisms using how to redeem codes on the codes hub. Do this in the lobby. Then open starter toons before you spend. 500 Prisms buys Loaffle (healer) or Magni (machine/melee magnet). A quiet kit with extra stamina beats a Popket you cannot stop from firing.

Do not spend the gift on Luckee (777, RNG wheel) or Toasten (1000, electric toaster-dog) until you can finish a quota. Peanut at 1000 is the stealth unlock, not the first buy. Nara (2000, camera), Carie (3000, teddy hug tank), and Shermie (4300 plus Purple Hearted) are later roster goals.

What the first zone is teaching

You are not touring a story map. You are learning four readouts:

  • Zone number at the top. It will climb if you keep clearing quotas.
  • Machine Completed X/Y. Live footage of Zone 13 shows eight machines. Earlier zones may ask for fewer; always play to the number on screen, not a wiki memory. The jobs themselves are Extract Ether, Repair pumps, Scavenge boxes, and Valves that clear fog.
  • Health and stamina in the corner. Green 200/200 and a yellow stamina pool around 150 are the healthy baseline we have seen.
  • Noise widget. Too noisy! is a warning. Something Noticed You is a fail state. Details are on how to hide.

The right-side Perks tray fills as you loot. Do not rearrange it mid-chase. The bottom hotbar holds active tools: lights, wrenches, meds, guns. Controls maps those slots without inventing custom keybinds.

First-run loadout

Bring one light, one repair tool, and one panic heal. Leave the Popket (60 damage, two rounds), Remmy shotgun, and Sparket in the bag until you can clear a quota without shooting. Gunfire is the fastest way to paint Too noisy! across a wooden room. The gear tier list ranks fight tools higher for later; this page is not later.

If you must carry a melee, a Knife (40) is quieter than a Sledger (80 daze) you swing for fun. Plank is 60 damage and one use — a panic button, not a personality. A Sweeper helps clean Ether puddles on Extract jobs; grab one if it is on the floor.

Food is not flavor. Canned Tuna is 15 HP. P.B.J is 20 plus a buff. H.N.C is 75. B.L.T is 100 plus a buff. Ether Vial is half HP; Ether Pack is a full refill. Water, Soda, Coffee, and 25th Hour restore stamina. Eat after a machine, in a corner, with the speaker quiet. Armor and backpack slots are real; they do not make you silent.

On the perk side, Ear Muffs suppress noise by 50%. Silent Gloves and Whisper Tea add stealth. Take those over novelty tray junk. Rankings live on the perk tier list.

How a zone actually ends

Finish the machine quota, then leave through the route the zone opens. Do not wander for loot when the counter is already full and the noise meter is red. Extra rooms are how roguelikes convert greed into a badge-less death.

If teammates exist, split machines, not loot piles. Call when you are about to use a loud ability. Ability-on-cooldown spam in capture footage is what happens when three people mash the same button in a doorway. Use the run checklist so those jobs have names before Zone 1.

Scrap you pick up is zone-shop currency. Prisms you spend at Somni are lobby currency. Do not mix them up. If you die with unspent Scrap, some of it may convert — we have not seen an official rate, so do not plan a farm around a fake multiplier. Details are on how to farm Prisms.

What to ignore on day one

  • The wandering engine and Project Eclipse. Those are badge hunts. Purple Hearted sits near a 0.9% win rate and is required to unlock Shermie. Moonie on floor 30 is a different fight.
  • Unofficial Discords. Somni Foundation has none. Official links repeats that.
  • Scripts. None are required, and the group already warns about exploiters.
  • Spending every Prism in the first shop. Keep a reserve for a toon swap after two failed kits.
  • Stuck machines at 99%. Leave them and find another; known bugs is the log, not your ego.

A simple first-hour checklist

  1. Beta claimed for 500 Prisms.
  2. Toon chosen from the roster — Loaffle or Magni unless you already know the HUD.
  3. Hotbar: light, repair tool, heal. Guns stay bagged.
  4. Walk more than you sprint. Sprint spends the yellow bar and feeds the speaker.
  5. Machines first (Extract, Repair, Scavenge, Valves), loot second.
  6. Leave when the quota ticks complete.
  7. Die once on purpose if you need to learn the notice banner. Then stop dying on purpose.

When that list is muscle memory, open the run checklist for group calls. The Isle of Dreams is generous with rooms and stingy with silence. Play like the walls are listening, because the HUD already told you they are. If a teammate still wants to main Luckee on hour one, send them this page, not a highlight reel.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers for Isle of Dreams runs.

Is Somni's Engine free to play?

Yes. It is a Roblox experience. The Beta code adds 500 Prisms — enough for Loaffle or Magni — but is not required to queue.

How many machines are in a zone?

Play to the HUD. Zone 13 footage shows 8. Earlier zones can differ. See how to survive.

Should I fight or hide as a beginner?

Hide until you can finish a quota. Fighting is viable later; the gear list is for that kit.

Why did my run restart?

The beta restarts often. Check beta updates and known bugs.
