How to Play Carie

Carie “The Caretaker” costs 3000 Prisms and is the tankiest support in Somni’s Engine. She does not deal damage, she does not scout, and she does not machine-rush. She hugs. Mother’s Embrace applies stealth, resist, and healing to one target at a time. Three charges. If your squad needs someone to stand in front of a Manic Shermie and keep a teammate alive, Carie is the 3000-Prism answer.

Carie is not a starter purchase. At 3000 Prisms she belongs after you have played Loaffle or Magni for weeks and the squad has decided it wants a dedicated tank. She is a support tank, not a solo fighter.

Stats and role

Carie sits at HP 6, Stamina 4, Walk 2, Run 1, Stealth 2, Strength 5, Repair 3, Extract 3, Scavenge 3, Sight 1. That Run 1 is the slowest in the game. HP 6 is the highest base health in the game. Strength 5 means she pushes well but she cannot escape. Play Carie as a body-block and a sustain source, not as a runner.

Active ability - Mother’s Embrace

Mother’s Embrace hugs a target toon and applies +10 Stealth to the hugged target, +100% Resist for 2 seconds, and +40 HP heal per charge, up to three charges, 20-second cooldown.

Carie does not heal herself. She heals the target she is standing next to. The hug requires proximity. If the target moves away, the hug ends.

Three charges of 40 HP is 120 total healing per fight. That is significant. The +100% resist window is two seconds — enough to survive a Manic Toasten charge or a Blob clip.

When to pick Carie

Pick Carie when the squad needs a dedicated tank and sustain source. If the group is running Eclipse pushes, deep-zone attempts, or engine hunts and needs someone to stand in front, Carie earns her 3000 Prisms.

Do not pick Carie if the squad is running hide-heavy builds. Carie at Run 1 cannot escape a Blob that already noticed the squad. She is a forward tank, not a stealth kit.

How to use Mother’s Embrace

The hug is a commitment. Stand next to the target, activate the ability, and stay close. Moving breaks the hug.

Use resist proactively, not reactively. If a Manic Shermie is about to charge, hug the target before the hit lands. The two-second resist window is small — time it.

Save one charge for emergencies. Using all three charges in the first minute leaves nothing for the Manic that arrives in the second.

What Carie does not do

She does not deal meaningful damage. Strength 5 is a push stat, not a damage output. She does not escape. Run 1 means she is always the last to leave. She does not scout. Sight 1 is the lowest in the game. She does not buy herself time — she buys time for the teammate she is hugging.

Pairing with the squad

Carie works best with Shermie for a tank-on-tank fight where both need sustain, Loaffle for double sustain on Eclipse pushes, and Nara for a call-and-tank combo where Nara spots and Carie absorbs. Avoid pairing Carie with other slow kits. A squad of three Run 1 toons is a squad that cannot scatter.

Farming for Carie

3000 Prisms is a significant farm after the Beta 500. Use how to farm Prisms to build the budget. Do not buy Carie if the squad still wipes at Zone 10. She scales with team survival, not solo carry.

FAQs

Is Carie a good first purchase?

No. Carie costs 3000 Prisms and requires a coordinated squad to use effectively. Master Loaffle or Magni first before investing in Carie.

What does Mother’s Embrace do?

Mother’s Embrace applies +10 Stealth, +100% Resist for 2 seconds, and heals 40 HP per charge to one target. Carie can use it three times before the 20-second cooldown triggers.

Can Carie heal herself?

No. Mother’s Embrace only affects the target Carie is standing next to. Carie cannot heal herself.

When should I hug a target?

Hug proactively before big hits land. If a Manic Shermie is charging, hug your squishy teammate before the impact to maximize the resist window.

What is Carie’s worst pairing?

Avoid pairing Carie with other slow kits like Peanut. A squad that cannot scatter when needed will die together.
